Ecotourism in
Carvajal de Gredos

“Every story has a beginning. We had just started with our first accommodation and a Scandinavian family was one of the first groups to stay at Casa Palacio Carvajal. After checking in, we agreed to go visit the forest that same afternoon.

We walked very attentively, observing the thick moss turning green everywhere, it wrapped around rocks and bark on the trees, it had recently rained. Everything was beautiful! And in the middle of the path we came across a fire salamander. The mother stopped to show it to her children, who immediately noticed it. At that very moment I understood ecotourism and its social and human significance.

Since that day there have been many experiences exploring the mountains and nature in Carvajal de Gredos.

Our visitors deserve a firmament full of stars because thanks to them Naturgredos is a great reality that we share.”

Marco is an extremely knowledgeable guy, about the history, the ecology, the plants and the birdlife of Extremadura. We had a wonderful walk with him, exploring a variety of different habitats from dehesa to meadows to forest. Even if you are an experienced bird watcher or botanist, you will get a great deal out of his tour, as it is really excepcional. A lovely guy, too, and he speaks really good English which is good because we have shamefully poor Spanish! Highly recommended to anyone with an interest in nature!
